GROWING presents the artistic practices of Josephine Baltzersen and Line Finderup in a duo exhibition exploring fertility, transformation, and parenthood. The exhibition features both individual and collaborative works spanning relief, painting, sculpture, and video.
Baltzersen’s tactile reliefs meet Finderup’s digital and airbrushed universes; together, they depict bodies navigating various stages of change, intimacy, and care.
The exhibition is generously supported by the Knud Højgaard Foundation.

Inside the Silence: Talking to Vilhelm Hammershøi

In Inside the Silence, Maria & Natalia Petschatnikov enter into dialogue with the work of Vilhelm Hammershøi, exploring the tension beneath his quiet interiors.
Drawing on reproductions of his paintings, they transform familiar spaces and details through cropping, shifting perspectives and contemporary materials.
Through paintings, miniatures and oil monotypes, the exhibition connects Hammershøi’s interiors with the artists’ own experiences in Berlin, inviting viewers to reflect on the complex nature of silence.

How does the Danish Golden Age speak to contemporary art today?
In this spring exhibition, Albert Contemporary and art collector Frederik Hove take as their starting point Johan Thomas Lundbye and his iconic work "En Dansk Kyst (A Danish Coast)" (1842-43) - a dream landscape composed of memories, places and moods.
15 contemporary artists are invited to create their own interpretations of the work and examine the landscape as both an image, symbol and psychological imprint. Past and present come together in one comprehensive, specially curated exhibition.

Dissolving into the Unknown

The exhibition revolves around dissolution, transition, and the controlled unpredictable. Through layers of resin, porous surfaces, and portal-like motifs, the works open up a space where the boundaries between the physical and the immaterial gradually blur.
The unknown does not appear as a distant destination, but as an active state — a place where identity, time, and matter merge.
The works exist in dialogue as fragments of the same narrative and invite the viewer to linger in the tension between control and loss of control. An exploration of the surface as both protection and disruption — and of the image as something in constant motion.

With wild, celebratory energy, Holly Halkes’s new exhibition "Piece of Cake" invites visitors into a world where the boundaries between reality and fantasy are deliciously blurred.
Through 13 paintings and 8 works on paper, Halkes conjures a feverish carnival of colour, abundance, and unruly humour.
Fruits, cakes, and party motifs tumble across her surfaces, attended by fluttering insects and bursts of paint that evoke both chaos and joy.
The carnivalesque spirit—a central concern in Halkes’s practice—animates every canvas, breaking down barriers between figures, forms, and everyday logic.
Vivid strawberries, playful butterflies, and juicy plums reappear throughout the works, swirling amid ribbons and quirky symbols that heighten the sense of movement and improvisation. The painting gestures are bold and spontaneous, reflecting the artist’s pursuit of pleasure and irreverence.
The abundance and humour are undercut by hints of uncertainty and self-questioning, echoing the emotional complexities of our social realities.
In Halkes’s world, fun is serious business. Her paintings propose an alternate social space—one shaped by openness and abundance—where we are free to question, laugh, and experience the full spectrum of what it means to be human.
Piece of Cake is an invitation to indulge, reflect, and find both pleasure and poignancy in the unruly feast of contemporary life.

Discreet Charm presents Juan de la Rica’s latest exploration of the female figure, bringing together sixteen recent paintings and a selection of works on paper—many of which began as preparatory sketches for the canvases. Together, these works trace the fluid dialogue between study and resolution, intimacy and structure.
Continuing the artist’s exploration of composition, this body of work examines how bodies occupy and define space, how proportions can be stretched or compressed, and how forms connect and interact across the pictorial field. Built from synthetic shapes and bold chromatic contrasts, the paintings carry a playful, almost pop-like energy, yet beneath this surface vibrancy lies a quiet tension and subtle sense of unease.
The drawings provide a more intimate perspective into the studio process. Executed in colored pencil, they uncover the artist’s working rhythm—the translation of gesture into form and the moment where impulse takes shape. Seen together, the paintings and drawings articulate a conversation between immediacy and deliberation, revealing a practice attuned to both the allure and ambiguity of representation.

With SMALL WONDERS, we invite both in-house and guest artists to present a series of smaller works. For this exhibition, we move away from the conventional gallery setup and instead create a space where visitors can browse a catalogue of works more freely.
We warmly invite you to the opening on September 19th, where we will fill our 400m² gallery with small wonders.
The show will feature new and archival works, studies, and prints – a collection that offers a rare glimpse into the processes and ideas behind each artist’s practice.
As we move towards the season of giving, the exhibition also embraces the spirit of the holidays. The works are accessible, intimate, and offered in a wide range of price points – making it possible to discover unique pieces suited for both seasoned collectors and those looking for a meaningful gift.
Isn’t it Dangerous?

Two old friends, thirty years of shared history. Their paths first crossed in the analogue era — through travel, getting lost, and discovering new ways of seeing the world. Over the years, they kept reconnecting in different places, always with creative outcomes.
This summer, they met again. No fixed plans, just days filled with conversation, laughter, swimming, cooking — and painting. Two canvases, one layer after another, guided by instinct and friendship.
Oh! Isn’t it Dangerous? is the result of that flow: a reunion painted in real time. The exhibition presents collaborative works created over the summer, alongside new sculptures and individual canvases by both Benny Brankovic and EGS.
It’s a celebration of instinct, time, and the power of creating something together.

On the edge of chaos

In a world on the boiling point, Anne-Sofie has found inspiration in the fascinating, all-consuming, and life-giving volcanoes. This natural phenomenon is associated with chaos in our culture and has, throughout natural history, helped create the Earth's atmosphere and oceans. In the same way, volcanoes play an important role in astrobiology—the study of life in the universe—as they can be a source of energy and building blocks for life on other planets and moons. Volcanoes are a reminder that nature and humanity are fluid and in constant change—a never-ending metamorphosis.
This has resulted in a series of woven landscapes at different scales, appearing both overwhelming and sensuous. The works also have a synthetic quality due to the wide range of materials Anne-Sofie has woven with, such as rug yarn, plastic, fabric, nylon thread, and artificial flowers. Anne-Sofie sees the weaving process as a metamorphosis, where the various materials, as they are woven together, become carriers of a new narrative.
As an extension of the weavings, Anne-Sofie has created a series of 3D-printed sculptures inspired by the artificial flowers she has woven with. She sees the sculptures as cuttings that have grown out of the weavings.

Bybliomøbisk Amøblement

Stefan Bakmand’s practice explores pagan cosmology, the subconscious, and the alchemical.
His invented term “Bybliomøbisk” — merging the Greek word for book with the idea of an amoeba — symbolizes a meditative journey into the spiritual and unknown. His drawings are rendered in lightfast ink on acid-free paper, mounted on wooden frames and varnished with bookbinding glue.
These become mythological and symbolic worlds that challenge dualities and invite alternative forms of consciousness rooted in psychedelic experiences, esotericism, and mysticism.
His art references non-human consciousness: psilocybin mushrooms, mycelium, ergot, and microscopic languages. The work connects historic spiritualities with contemporary understandings of psychology, philosophy, and perception, inviting cosmological experiences of nature and reality.

ERUPTION

What does it really mean when something “erupts”? Maybe you think of a volcano going off, but it can just as well be about something inside us—feelings, thoughts, or ideas—that suddenly can’t be held in any longer and just have to come out. It's a bit like taking the lid off a pressure cooker or finally saying out loud what you’ve been keeping to yourself for ages. An eruption can be intense or destructive, but it can also mark the start of something new.
The exhibition ERUPTION is about those moments when something breaks out or is set free—whether it’s in nature, in society, or inside ourselves. The artists have each interpreted the theme in their own way: Joël Bigaignon and Nacho Eterno have both explored and unfolded what “eruption” might mean—Joël with a focus on subtle, underlying tensions where what erupts may be hidden or quiet, and Nacho bringing it out into the open with energy and immediacy, where the outburst is right in front of us. Some works are loud, others quieter, but all center on that moment when something changes.
There isn’t just one right answer here—we simply invite you in to experience what an outburst can look and feel like, and maybe see glimpses of yourself in the process.

TOTALLY BEACH is a humorous and nostalgic beach universe created by Line Finderup and Luca Bjørnsten. In their first joint exhibition, the artists explore the beach as both an idyllic escape and a place of hidden tensions.
Through painting, sculpture, video, and installation, Finderup brings everyday objects to life, exploring emotions and vulnerability, while Bjørnsten examines nostalgia, pop culture, and the influence of media on our perception of reality.
Together, they create a playful and immersive experience that blends humour, nostalgia, and social commentary in a colourful universe that feels both familiar and strangely distorted.

In a world increasingly shaped by measurement and evaluation, moments of presence and reflection have become more important than ever. In her solo exhibition Tarot, Krista Rosenkilde explores spirituality as a way of connecting with our inner lives and finding meaning, hope, and perspective.
Working across painting, printmaking, collage, and sculpture, Rosenkilde draws inspiration from the symbolism of tarot cards, dedicating an entire exhibition to spirituality for the first time. Her works invite viewers to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with something beyond the everyday.

Surface Tension

The motifs in Kasper Hermann’s works are minimalist but far from random. In the exhibition SURFACE TENSION, the dot is the central motif – a simple form that constantly varies in size, color, and expression. For Hermann, the dot functions as a universal language, encompassing both playfulness and seriousness – ranging from the ironic and humorous to a deeper, more emotional expression.
Hermann builds upon an artistic tradition. Artists such as Yayoi Kusama and Poul Gernes have both explored the potential of the dot – Kusama through her polka-dotted, dreamlike universes and Gernes in his colorful, conceptual works. In line with Kusama and Gernes, Hermann investigates the aesthetic and communicative power of the dot. He adds his own personal layer, where the form extends beyond the visual into the sensory and memorable. The titles of his works reveal a layer of meaning that would otherwise remain hidden beneath the glossy surface.
